Day 76 - Fast food in Astrakhan

There is not much to say about our stay in Astrakhan. We relaxed, caught up on the blog, did some laundry, tried local beer and made a sightseeing trip to MacDonalds - first fastfood since China.

Where where roaming through a shoppingmall in order to buy some pants. Matthias sent his jeans back to Shanghai in Urmuqi saying:"I will send everything back that I havent used in the first month" - Well he didnt really calculate in that the weather will get colder in russia and so he was running around with his Jogging pants since weeks. He would blend it very good with the locals - but still not a pretty sight.. The operation "new pants" was not successful though and we went on to the main highlight of the day "Mac Donalds"!

"Normal" food was a welcome change to the russian roulette of picking the right dish on the cyrillic menu. Kim had a good system to order food - he just took a picture of each dish he had eaten so far and when the waitres came up to take our order he would just scroll trough all pictures till she says "Da!" (Russian - Yes)  Hach, these asians love their foodpics..But a very smart idea.

There was a huge downpour while stuffed our faces with bigmacs and chicken nuggets and so we spent almost all afternoon there. They had free wifi and caffe latte... So not half-bad... And surprisingly the rain washed a couple of bikers in. Francisco and Elisabeth - a couple from Chile! They drove two-up from spain to Russia and will keep on going as far as their money allows. Big respect! Riding that far with two people on one bike is a big achievement- we met them later for a beer and exchanged some war stories.

You can follow their journey on facebook: "There and back by Motorcycle"
