Day 34 - Kyrgyzstan!

The road to the border - China lies behind the mighty TianShan mountains
The road to the border - China lies behind the mighty TianShan mountains

First we didnt cross any border for a month and now we crossed two borders in just two days.

We just spend a day in Kazachstan but we got a rough idea how vast the country is. You drive for hours on straight roads trough the steppe. Its so flat that you can see the next city already an hour before you gonna arrive there. really beautiful. We passed by the Charyn canyon - are smaller version of the grand canyon. in China it would have been a scenic spot but here we couldnt even find the entrance - and as we where already low on fuel we just took a few pictures while passing by and went to kegen where the road to the boarder starts.

We are in kyrgystan. And its beautiful here. More sheep than people and of them also just 5 million on an space as big as austria and hungary. 95% of the area are covered in mountains and the rest looks like the windows startup desktop. The bordercrossing was easy and friendly. We took a remote border through the amazing karaka valley.. I guess there are not more then 10cars passing each day. The kazaks said goodbye and the kyrgyz said "go go go" - they where a bit surprised by our chinese motorbike documents but didnt want to be bothered. So we where of to green meadowy hills flocked with horses and sheep. It was so romantic that it was almost disgusting... Just like a bob ross painting.

Chris fever came back slowly and we decided to take a day off at lake issy kul. That lake is one of the many prides of the country and the second highest in the world. Our astronaut buddy yuri gargarin took a rest here after his spaceflight - so its definitely good enough for us and hopefully Chris can recover to full strength.

We arrived at Tamga at the south side of the lake late in the evening where we checked into a lovely little homestay. Chris went to bed immediately as he felt like shit. I enjoyed the dinner that the owner of the place, a nice russian granny prepared for us. "Mantis" - Some kind of ravioli, salad and bread.

Tag 34 - Kirgisien!
